Across the United States, in each community, people have had a child die and need support. Even as they reflect the diversity of the country, coming from a myriad of cultures, races, belief systems, ethnicities, socio-economic groups, lifestyles, and stages of life, these parents, siblings, and grandparents share grief in common.
Bereaved Parents of the USA believes that grief shared is grief divided, and that it is easier to travel the long journey of grief after the death of a child or sibling if you walk with others who share a similar path. Only those who have had a child, grandchild or sibling die can understand the many aspects of this grief and the length of the journey.
Starting a support group to help other hurting bereaved families accomplishes many essential goals. As you begin and run a Bereaved Parents of the USA Chapter, your work will:
